We’ll be launching this website very soon and we want a wealth of RSS subscribers to help get us going. So I’ve decided to take up the 4-week challenge that Ponn over at http://empowerwomennow.com/ shared with us. I’ll start working the challenge steps as soon as our site launches here in just a couple of weeks. Even though we won’t be able to go live before then, I didn’t want to hold anyone else back from jumping in there and getting a headstart. So here’s the scoop on how to dramatically increase your subscriber numbers through this challenge.
Here are the 5 ways to get your subscriber numbers up:
1. Quality Content
Remember that what you write has to give something back to the reader. If your articles are not worth reading and you are not giving anything on a regular basis you will not get the readers or subscribers in. It’s suggested by many a business blogger that you use your own unique voice to express your level of expertise. This will help convince the target market that you have the blog to visit everyday! By watching your posts comments/trackbacks, you’ll learn what your site visitors want to see the most. To write quality articles, take the time to read quality blogs and articles and get a feel for what other people are writing! Keep an eye on DSD-Pro as well because we’ll be shooting out some terrific content for you to share with your readers!
2. Traffic
Really it all boils down to getting the traffic into your website. If you get the traffic in you’ll get the new subscribers. Do this through the most popular social media sites:
Netscape, Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Delicious, MyBlogLog
There are new ones coming out all the time, so keep your eyes open to the opportunity they offer. I would love it if you would check out DSD-Pro or DSDPro on each of the sites above and help us get a quick start on things too.
Sign up with all the sites mentioned above and start socialising in them. If your site is new like ours, then don’t submit any of your own articles at first, unless you have been using the sites for a while. Then take one week to build up your friends and submit quality articles to all of them. Add the social bookmark icons to your blog posts because it makes it easy to submit articles to the sites. Ours will be added soon too!
It is very important to build up your friends lists and submit articles. Make a point of submitting for an hour every day for one week. As you continue to build up your friend lists on these sites, continue to write your articles and post them as usual and resist the temptation to submit your articles to any of these sites. What you are doing is building credibility. A little credibility is better than no credibility. I’m starting our DSD-Pro articles now
3. Great headlines
Having a great headline can dramatically increase your traffic from search engines in both the short and long term. Take a close look at the headlines in your blog and think about how you could reword them to make them more appealing to your readers. Here’s an idea - consider leaving a comment with a post title and ask the readers to change it to make it more appealing!
4. Enlist the help of your friends
Everybody else is doing it and if you want to get more readers and subscribers this is the way. If you don’t have friends ask your fellow bloggers to take a look at some of your posts and ask them to submit them to the social sites. You could do the same for them. Be careful and honest when doing this; you could get banned if all you are doing is submitting your friends’ sites. Make sure you continue submitting “quality” sites to all the sites above and you should be okay.
5. SEO
This is another, sometimes overlooked area when writing articles on your blog. Make sure they are optimized for the search engines. Do this by using 7 – 15 keywords for every single blogpost you write. You can also use Meta tags in your posts which will help too when spiders crawl your site, but keep in mind that this isn’t as useful as it once was.
The 4 week challenge is going to be just one of the challenges we shoot for. I do hope you’ll join us in the challenge a too!
Remember if you have never used the social sites mentioned do not submit any of your own posts until you have built up some credibility.

Thanks for joining in!
Today marks my 4-weeks and I’ll be posting all my stats, experiences etc. soon. Nonetheless it will remain an indefinite ‘challenge’ as an opportunity to network and build our networks within each social networking/bookmarking website and be-friend as many wonderful people online as possible–just like you!
Blog on my dear!
To our success & empowerment,
Ponn
Hi Sweetie!
Just be-friended you almost everywhere.
1. It’d help if you list your username, just in case your link above brings us directly to the sign-in page first.
For example, I could not be-friend you at reddit or StumbleUpon (the biggest one I’m extremely active in). I even searched what I assumed is your username DSD-PRO, but both places didn’t allow me to hook up.
2. You need to ‘friend’ me back to get access to webpages I bookmark, so we can ’share’ our resources online as network-friends
Peace dear!
Well look at me all flush with embarrassment! I should have known better than that. Thanks for the reminder and for befriending me as well!
Our Username on these account is DSD-Pro on any site that will accept the dash in the middle. But a couple of the sites don’t. On those, our username is DSDPro (no dash).
I added this info to the post above. Thank you!
I noticed it’ been a while since you logged in at stumble. Just wanted to let you know that I’ve added you as a friend and will also try and partake in your advice!
Trish, I’ve been wrapped up to my eyeballs in activities – many of which haven’t been web related. But I’m still around. Just a bit swamped right now.
Thanks for adding me to your list of StumbleUpon friends. Hopefully I’ll get back over there soon.
