Series Introduction:

This is the first article in a series that will give you a steady stream of headline-writing ideas and proven techniques that are sure to increase your readership.  Whether you are writing blog articles, advertising for your digi-scrap business, or announcements in your community forums - these formulas will become some of your best friends.  Because they will give extra power to your writing skills and produce the results you are looking for. Through this series I will share with you tips and techniques on how to write better headlines for your blogs, on your websites, and in your advertising campaigns.

I’m a Teaching Student

As you have probably noticed from reading my blog articles, I’m not a great headline writer myself…. yet.  I truly need help in this direction to increase my digi-scrap business sales.  That’s just one of the reasons I’m participating in the Blog Mastermind course presented by Yaro Starak from Entrepreneurs-Journey. But that’s a different story and I’ll tell you more about this awesome mentoring program later in the week. During the past few weeks I’ve done some heavy research and learned a ton of information on the subject of Headline Writing and I’m just now starting to put these lessons into practice.  Thinking others might like some help in this department too, is what lead me to write this set of articles.

Admittedly, the information in this series doesn’t include business knowledge that is uniquely mine or directly related to my limited amount of positive experiences.  I gathered these tips from a variety of places and people.  Some came from listening to podcasts such as an interview Yaro did with Brian Clark, the guy behind the very popular Copyblogger.com blog.  I’ll be sharing with you title-writing lessons I’ve learned from mentors in the  Blog Mastermind course I’m taking.  A great wealth of ideas and has been garnered from books by professionals in marketing and journalisium, as well as from many hours of web research I’ve done on the subject.

I’m Taking Advice from Non-Scrapbookers

…………………
I believe in going to the best resource to get what’s necessary to meet the specific need.  These professionals know what they are talking about when it comes to writing and their advice can be applied to any business.  I wouldn’t go to a newspaper journalist to get information about how to create my next set of digi-scrap elements.  So I didn’t go to digital scrapbooking professionals to ask about writing.  Therefore, none of the information I gathered for this article came from fellow digi-scrap artists.  My research showed that many, (make that most) of us can do a much better job in our marketing programs and if we did so, our sales would increase substantially!  So I’m hoping you’ll take what you read here and pass it along to others in our career field so we can have a stronger presence in the scrapbooking industry.

Why are Headlines Important to Your Digital Scrapbooking Business?

…………………
Because they are the first thing a person reads and ultimately they will cause your site visitors and potential customers to take action.  The action they take will depend on the strength of your headline.  They will either, click away from your site and move on or they will read more of your articles and advertisements.  Which decision do you want your customers to make?  I know what I want my customers to do - make a purchase.
…………………
To keep your visitors coming back for more and making more purchases - read the articles in this series.  Put the lessons into practice, and come along for the ride as I do the same.

If you aren’t sure whether or not these articles are worth your time, take just 10 seconds more to consider: Did you just read to the bottom of this article?  If you did, then it’s because I did my job right in creating a compelling headline and then keeping you interested.  As a bonus, I didn’t even try to sell you anything once you got here.

Darn!  Where was my head?  This is where I should have inserted a “purchase now” call to action.  :)

Well since I’m not trying to sell you a product today, I’ll just give you this final sales pitch instead: The next article in this series gives you two fab-dab-u-lous headline formulas that are sure to get you moving in the right direction with your title-writing skills.  I know they work, because I used them to write this article.

Jump to the second article to learn the ins and outs of using “How To” and “How I” titles the best way!
