Blog carnivals are fun and fabulous!  They are a great source of information and offer another opportunity to increase your blog visits while increasing your search engine rankings.

What are Blog Carnivals and How Do they Work?

A Blog Carnival is an online writing event with a chosen theme, hosted by a blog owner.  The carnival is made up of a set of editions, published on a regular schedule, like weekly or monthly.  Each of these carnival editions are made up of a set of linked blog articles (on the pre-determined subject) submitted by carnival participants.

Typically, someone who wants to organize a carnival, posts details of the theme to their blog, and asks readers to submit relevant articles for inclusion in an upcoming edition.  As word spreads throughout the blogosphere about the carnival edition, bloggers submit their articles.  The host collects links to these submissions, edits and annotates them, then publishes the resulting round-up to their blog.

All these links represent an entire listing of great articles on the same subject.  It’s a wonderful way to view information about them without going through piles of search engine results that may not even pertain to what you were really looking for.  Besides the obvious benefit of having all this information made available from other bloggers - when the carnival edition gets published and the host blogger visitors follow the links it’s just a matter of time before the writers who submitted their articles to the carnival start seeing the rewards with extra blog traffic from those links. It’s a win/win situation for all the participating bloggers as well as visitors to their blogs!

DSD-Pro has recently submitted our Perfect Color Mix article to the digital scrapbooking blog carnival coordinated by Hummies World. This particular edition was hosted by Skye Scrapz.  The deadline for participating in that edition has already come and gone. The results are due to be published August first.  It’s the first one we’ve participated in and we’re looking forward to seeing a few new visitors pop in here as a result of it.  Submission deadline for their next edition is August 12th.
