LAYERS and Layers of Fun!

DSD-Pro Pic - Layers MagDo you read the Layers Magazine?  The one Adobe puts out with all those great articles that are usually for photographers and digital illustrators?  I do.  It is one of the best magazine subscriptions I have.  Every month I can hardly wait until the next one arrives at my door.

What’s really great about this publication is that I can learn in multiple ways from their offerings.  I pick up a ton of ideas and techniques just from reading and then accomplishing each step on my own computer.  I also log into their website and watch the tutorial video!  Which is perfect for me since I’m a visual learner.

Grab up the Adobe Training Tutorials Online - without paying the Subscription Price!

Go to their website at:  http://www.layersmagazine.com/  where you can pick up many of their lessons absolutely free!  By taking advantage of these wonderful tutes you can learn many new techniques to apply to your digi-scrap designs.  Although their screen shots are specific to Adobe products like CS2/3, and Photoshop Elements - they can still be applied to just about any graphics software that supports layers.  Here’s a few tutorials I recommend:

  • Using Gradient Maps is a great way to change the look of your digital elements to match your papers and themes.  Quick and easy - just the way I like to see things accomplished.
  • Applying the steps in the Collage with Layers tutorial to your paper designs offers endless possibilities!
  • They also have another terrific tutorial on Making Your Own Brushes that is just as good as most of the brush tutes that I’ve seen.

Every time I open a page to another set of instructions in my Layers magazine, I immediately start thinking about ways I can apply the lessons to my digital scrapbooking designs.  Check it out and do the same!

Please share with us any tutorials you’ve picked up along the way that you think other designers would love to learn from.
