What’s Going On Behind the Scenes?

Were you wondering where I’ve been? Sorry for the pause in blogging lately. I’m as eclectic in my activities as I am in my love of varied art mediums. So there are times when I get really wrapped up in things that keep me out of the blogosphere. During the last two weeks have been popping in to check on things, but for the most part I’ve been working playing with other creative endeavors. Here’s a quick look behind the curtains of my little world.
Projects Ready to go Postal
Over the weekend I was flexing my artful muscles with my clay and altered dolls – trying to finish up a big project started a couple of months ago. Wahoo – I accomplished the first 14 dolls in a series of what I suspect will be 20 at the most. There was only one little piece of digi-ness on these projects and that was nothing more than a typed quote I added to the frame and my signature block on the back. So not much computer time on that at all. Thirteen of these were spoken for upfront and they are ready to package and ship out. I’m excited about finishing up this first round on the project. I’m holding off on the last 6 dolls until after the holiday season.
Extras Just for Fun
While I had the clay out doing up the faces for my dolls, I went ahead and created a few new molds for sun faces, words, florals, butterflies, and some other quirky elements. These are one of the types of items that I use to add extra dimension to my art pieces. Whenever I have the clay out for a specific pieces like the art doll series, I also bake up a few of these goodies so I’ll have them on hand for other projects. I think I’ll do some scans of a few of this last set and create a new digi-element or two from them.
ATC’s to Celebrate Shared Moments
I also spent one day creating a set of Artist Trading Cards for a group project as well. At the CHW website we had our 4-year anniversary this summer and this set was created in celebration of that milestone. I used old cars, bikes, trains, and plains as the main focus on the cards. In the mini-collages I added the phrase, “a wrinkle in time” to represent the spec of time we’ve been on the web and growing our little community. A fun project indeed. I always like the challenge of doing a little something that’s less feminine than my usual projects.
Business Association Registration Starts Next Month!
Although not as much as usual, I have still been spending some time online. I did get the community forum software loaded for our new business association. Now the team is working on getting several writing projects completed so members will actually have something to take advantage of when they sign up. We’ll start early registration this next month with a special price for those who want to push their digi-scrap business to the forefront of the industry by becoming a business associate with us.
Digi-Kits in the Works
I just finished up a Business-to-Business (B2B) digi-kit as well. It’s a sampler type kit with a mix of goodies to hand out to the folks who register at the new forums. It includes brushes, overlays, papers, and several other fun things to play with. I’ve got a few more things in mind for digi-kits for the association members, but haven’t started creating them in the digi-world quit yet. Sometimes I create in my mind for a good long while before the art ever materializes. Know what I mean?
Web-Based Projects Wrapping up and Starting up
I’ve had two contracted web-site projects in the works as well and one of these websites has been taking up waaaay too much of my time. I’ll be glad to get it off my desk. Then there’s a Joint Venture (JV) I’m working on with a couple of sweet gals at a Yahoo Group I discovered recently. This one is a project I’m pretty stoked over. Primarily because it’s a venture specific to the digital scrapbooking world and I think it has a lot of potential to help entrepreneurs in our industry strengthen their businesses. Now is that right in line with our DSD-Pro mission or what? I’ve also thrown out a couple of JV ticklers to individuals I’m looking to incorporate as mentors and professional trainers for the business association. Waiting to hear back from them and considering adding one more to the mix. If you are interested in helping teach fellow digi-scrap professionals and add more consulting experience to your portfolio, give me a shout and I’ll let you in on the scoop. My email addy is paintchip [at] dsd-professionals [dot] com. There’s some $$ earning potential in this JV too.
Back to the Keyboard
I’m getting closer to returning to my writing work very soon. So if you’ve been yearning to see more here at DSD-Pro lately, the wait is almost over. I just need to wrap up a few loose ends on these other projects and then I’ll be back to writing. You know, my little brain can only create so much in a day before I run out of juice and need to refresh. While I can easily juggle several activities at a time, it’s not always an act that’s very entertaining. Best I can, I keep things to a level of about 4 at a time. Otherwise I experience burnout. Which is a subject I touched on in the 3rd edition of our business report. I do hope you’re making a conscious effort to enjoy life’s offerings without overwhelming yourself or reaching the burnout point too.
Keep your eyes open here at DSD-Pro. Things we’ve been working on for months now are about to explode and FINALLY become reality!

Hope we get to see those dolls Cindy. They sound intriguing.
Great to hear that you’re an ATC marker too. I started playing with them last July and they’re a lot of fun. I’ve had some really cool trates from them. Do you get into Trading at all? I wrote an article on Trading ATCs if you’re interested and I’d love to see some of your work.
