Simplify Delivering a Product - All Year

In the closing comments of our 4th article in this seriesI mentioned that I would show you how to use an autoresponder to provide a quality product year round to every new subscriber. While delivering your product you’ll also be creating a list of customers. This list can be used over and over again to market additional products and services to your customers.

Create a Valuable Product

The first thing you’ll need to do is invest some time up front and create an email deliverable product that would be useful to your potential customer. Information products such as “How-To” guides or special reports are great for this. If an information product doesn’t interest you, then consider creating a digital scrapbooking product or kit of goodies.  The main thing to keep in mind when creating this product is that is must represent something your audience would be interested in having.  If your niche is the same as a thousand other sites online, then you are going to have to give this some heavy thought if you want to give them something unique and not found elsewhere.

Package your product so you can deliver it via an email and in a manner that it can be opened by anyone. For example information products are usually delivered in PDF format while digital art pieces are sent packaged in a compressed zip file.  Don’t make the mistake of packaging your product in a format that is only available to people with specific software on their machines.

Prepare for Delivery

Once you have your product ready, build a new list in your autoresponder program and create your first “follow up” message. This message should be a welcome note to the new lead and maybe some information about your company and the services/products you provide. Attach your product to this email along with a thank you to them for their interest in your company.

Using the date and time options available in your autoresponder software, set this message to deliver to each lead immediately after the person confirms the opt-in email.

Open the Doors for Business

With the follow up message ready to go the next step is to give your prospective customers a way to sign up and opt in to your list. Most autoresponder software includes options for creating a sign up form to post online for prospective leads to give you their email address. If your program doesn’t include these form building options, they will provide you with the information to create your own, using HTML coding. The aweber program provides a form maker to help automate this process quick and easy. They even have a how-to video that will walk you through the specific steps if you need further assistance.

Create your form and post it on the webpage where you want your leads to sign up for your list. Test it using your own email address, to make sure it works properly. Once you confirm your subscription through the opt-in message, you should immediately receive the welcome message you set up in the previous step. This is the one with your product package attached to it.

Let the List Building Begin

That’s all there is to it. You’ve got everything in place, and now each time a person joins your list they receive the product you created automatically and your prospective customer list continues to grow. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the month, all year long - you’re delivering a great product to every new lead. You can now use this list to market additional products and keep your customers informed of the latest and greatest news from your website!
