Take a Stand and Be Bold in your Business
By PChip | Category: Business Management | 4 commentsRecently I read the article, “Go Big or Go Home” over at copyblogger. It was written by Leo Babauta of Zen Habits. This article was focused on boldness in writing and how doing so can rank your blog articles high on social networking sites. This article combined with the comments left by readers had so many powerful “golden knowledge nuggets”. It’s a great read and I hope you’ll follow the link and take a look at it. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
A Highlighted Thought
While this article offered a great deal to me, in my posting today I want to focus in on the overall concept of following through on your boldness. One of the thoughts shared several times over was that being bold in your article title and then not following it up with a kept promise in your article, leaves readers disappointed.
Taking that concept and applying it your digital scrapbooking business I’ll offer the following Tip for Our 30-Day Challenge: Be bold in your business by offering something new, different, maybe even unexpected. Be bold in your business by taking a stand and sticking to it. Be bold in your business by not always following the crowd, but instead do something YOUR way. Then don’t stop there. While you are being bold in your digi-art dealings also be bold enough to deliver on your business promises – whether you are promising certain content in a blog article, or great prices, or high quality art, or fast delivery. Whatever your bold stand is – back it up by keeping the promise.
Will You Share Your Thoughts with a Blog Comment?
It’s been my habit in each of the 30-Day Challenge postings to dole out a mini-tasker each day along with a business tip for my fellow digi-scrap professionals. I don’t know if readers are actually following along with the mini-taskers I’ve been offering – or if these have even provided any value. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the worth of this series. Have the tips been of any use to you? Did you learn anything new? Have you actually done any of the mini-taskers? Found them helpful or a waste of your time?
If you’ve been lurking your way through the 30-Day Challenge, now’s a good time to be bold and drop a quick comment.
Are You Serving as a Mentor?
I also hope you’ve been bold enough to step out and help a fellow digi-art enthusiast by providing a mentoring moment to them. Let me know if you have. It would be fun for us to hear about your experiences. I think we all might find it helpful to hear about any protege moments you’ve experienced lately as well. I know from one day to the next, I find myself in both roles – student and teacher/mentor and protege.
Possible Mini-Taskers for You to Adopt Today:
Grab a cup of your favorite drink, sit for a sec and reflect on the direction your business is currently going in. Consider where you may see some boldness in your digital art business. If you can’t identify that within just a minute or two of thought – say in the amount of time it takes you to finish your drink – then is it really bold? Does that aspect of your business standout and become noteworthy to your clients? If you can’t identify it right away, how does your customer?
Take a few minutes to read the “Go Big or Go Home” article and see if you can apply the overall concept of boldness in your business somewhere. See if you can pull from the article a piece of information to help you in your business. Keep in mind that it doesn’t necessarily have to be specifically related to writing content for a blog.
What I Found Interesting
I found several pieces of information to use. Yes, I learned some new tips for article titles. I always do when I read through the copyblogger site. However, I also found myself thinking of ways to make my business stand out from the crowd. This internal brain storming is always helpful to me. I take these thoughts with me on my walks, when I’m working out, while I’m driving in the car, or sipping tea in the middle of the night. While reading through the comments, I also discovered another tactic for handling occasional, rude statements. I was reminded of some marketing truths as well. So for me, the article gave me ideas for my business far beyond simple writing guidance.
I hope today you discover something bold within your digi-art world – within yourself.

Day 24: 24 days ago, we thought we had things pretty much in order at Aardvark Scrapbooking. Then we decided to commit to 30 days here on DSD and over the course of that time, we have completely re-thought a large part of where we are going.
So bold is our new direction, that it involves starting an entirely new business venture, a sister-business to Aardvark maybe.
We are taking what we have learned and going with it. Thanks to all here that have informed us and spurred us on to really find a niche.
As soon as we have secured the URL and done the requisite due-diligence we will divulge our plans for critique.
We still love Aardvark, its character and style, but now it has a new BOLD twin that hopefully will allow a much tighter brand and better penetration into the market.
Yes – this time there will be blogging, a new, focused product line and a new marketing strategy. Much of what you have read about here.
We’re excited and looking forward to sharing it with you all.
Marty & David
Wow! This sounds exciting. Now you’ve got me on pins and needles waiting for the big announcement.
Looking forward to hearing more news. For sure – keep me in the loop. Best of luck to you as you make your arrangements and get ready for the launch.
I’m not in the digiscrapping business, but I have found the whole series up to now extremely interesting. Considering that most digiscrapping business right now are created by people mostly with very little experience as entrepreneurs or managing business I think they are a must read for anyone considering digiscrapping as a business activity. They surely are a good starting point even if you are not right now considering a business adventure as they are full of tips and ideas.
Unfortunately I cannot have too much input as I’m not in the business and really don’t have experience managing business but I wanted to thank you for all the information and effort you are making to try standardised many things related to the scrapbooking world.
Best wishes. :O)
Hi!
I just recently found your site and wish I knew about this place when I first opened DigiScrapWarehouse! The 30-day tips are great, and I’m enjoying reading through each nugget of information. I’ll be back for more!
